FAQs

What is the recovery time after laparoscopic surgery?

Most patients recover within 1–2 weeks after laparoscopic surgery, depending on the procedure. Recovery is usually faster than open surgery due to smaller incisions.

Am I a candidate for bariatric (weight loss) surgery?

You may be eligible if you have a BMI over 35 with related health issues, or over 40 without. A full evaluation by Dr. Bawa helps determine the best treatment option for you.

Is robotic surgery safe?

Yes. Robotic surgery is a safe, highly precise method that enhances surgeon control and reduces trauma, leading to quicker recovery and fewer complications.

How do I know if my hernia needs surgery?

If your hernia causes pain, discomfort, or is increasing in size, surgical repair is often recommended to avoid complications like strangulation.

What are the risks of liver or pancreatic surgery?

Like any major surgery, there are risks such as bleeding, infection, and organ-specific complications. Dr. Bawa ensures a thorough preoperative evaluation to minimize risks.

Will I need to stay in the hospital after surgery?

Hospital stay depends on the procedure. Many laparoscopic surgeries are done as day care or short-stay admissions, while complex surgeries may require a few days of monitoring.
